Cape Town's municipal officers said that they are expecting thousands of people to start flocking to the beaches during the weeks of December and January. This past weekend already saw at least 4000 people lining up outside Sea Point public pool (reported by the City of Cape Town), and they believe the hype is only going to continue into January 2018.

While there are some people who would rather avoid these large crowds of people, the good news is that if you do plan on going to the beach or public pools over the festive season, Disaster Management, NSRI and volunteers are prepared.

Law officials have begun confiscating liquor from people on the beaches, the City of Cape Town is running a child tagging programme at various beaches, over 800 officials have been distributed across Cape Town's beaches AND road blocks are being set up to ensure the roads are also safe.
