Have you ever wanted to try something new and help others at the same time? Or would like a new surrounding with culture and animals? Just on the outskirts of Cape Town is the quiet and colourful area known as Pinelands. Situated next to the train station which can take you straight to Cape Town city centre and only a 15 minute drive from Cape Town International Airport.

Oude Molen Eco Village is a quiet village in the centre of Pinelands with much to offer including playgroups, swimming pools and of course the wonderful backpackers.

Now if you were to volunteer in this program, arranged by SASTS (South African Students’ Travel Service), you would be volunteering in Oude Molen's very own horse stables, and its not just the horses you will see gallivanting around, there's also chickens, ducks, the lot! By volunteering here you would have such tasks as grooming the horses, walking the foals and general maintenance of the facility.

Accommodation would be by us here at Riverlodge Backpackers and we are less than a few minutes walk from the horses. You can see them from our garden!
